Lying in her bed, dark eyes looked around the empty cabin and sighed softly to herself. It had been two years since she’d first stepped foot onto the Olympus campgrounds (even longer if you counted the fact that she had been at Camp Half-Blood for almost a year before moving to the new camp), and she still hadn’t gotten used to having a building – or well a small building at least – entirely to herself; somehow she doubted she ever really would. Growing up with two step-sisters who were nothing short of horrible to her and a step-mother who pretty much wished she was nonexistent, well...Kassi wasn’t used to having anything that she could actually call hers. She knew there had to be other children of Hecate out in the world, but at the moment she was the only one at camp – therefore the cabin was hers, for now, and she found an odd sense of comfort in that: having something that was entirely hers. Even if it was just temporary.
A light groan escaped her lips as she forced herself to roll over and off of the bed, onto her feet. She was entirely too bored, and she really needed to find something to do. She’d already taken her morning run, she’d already eaten breakfast, and she’d gone for a swim in the lake as well; she was just happy that it was warm enough now to actually go for a swim without getting pneumonia (or worse). Slipping into some comfortable sparring attire, she figured that she might as well get some practice in. Lately, she had been so focused on trying to make her control over the elements actually work well without hurting herself that she had allowed her fighting suffer in the process, and she knew better than that. A demigod always had the need to be careful, especially since the gods had (once again) over thrown the titans; she knew that more than likely while the titans were licking their wounds from where they’d been imprisoned – it wouldn’t be too long before they tried to make a grab for power again, and she wanted to be ready. She knew that it wasn’t really healthy to keep yourself always on the ready for a fight, but she couldn’t help it. She had been raised always being on the edge because of her step-siblings, so having a ready-to-fight, mistrusting attitude towards others had almost always been second nature to her. She had friends at the camp, but there was a small part of her that couldn’t help but wonder if they would betray her too.
Before long, she made her way towards the armory to grab her weapon before heading to the stadium. She hadn’t been able to find anyone to spar with, but that didn’t matter to her; she could practice on a dummy for a while to keep herself occupied until someone else decided they wanted or needed to practice as well.
