Once again, Aiden was skiving off of his activities. Technically, since he was nineteen, he didn't have to go to cabin activities. (Mostly because he was supposed to be at college but he was skiving off of classes that day too.) But not even Aiden wanted to stay cooped up in Apollo Cabin all day. He'd almost have preferred going to school. And then he remembered how the cute teacher's assistant called him a 'model student' and one of the older boys in the class told Aiden to 'fuck off and stay away from Amelia'. And that's why Aiden was sitting at the edge of Poseidon's Lake, feet in the water despite it being so cold.
Aiden hated himself still, at times. Because he was so insecure in everything he did, it took only one comment and everything Aiden struggled for crashed down around him, leaving him alone to build up from scratch again. Honestly, Aiden thought he should have been someone else's son. Maybe the son of, like, the god of chickens. But Apollo? The only proof that Aiden was a son of Apollo was what he inherited and even that... Aiden sighed and splashed his feet a little more than necessary.
"Father," he muttered to himself, "why? Why this... Bullshit?" He brought his hand over to his arm, running his palm over the covered scars that were thick along his arm. They were mirrored on the other arm. Most were pale and definitely scars while some were... less than scars but more than scabs. Aiden was at least proud to say he hadn't added to his collection of scars since he'd started at Camp Olympus. "Why is everything so difficult?" he prayed to his father, as if the Sun God had time to stop and answer him. Aiden cursed in Ancient Greek under his breath and splashed his feet, getting his face wet unintentionally.
