Sensitivity to Death: He can sense impending death; it's a sort of ringing in his ears. He can tell when an immortal is getting read to "die", by fading.
Life Aura: Nico can sense someone's life aura; he can tell if they're dying or not. He also knows when a person is being judged in the Underworld.
Umbrakinesis: He can control shadows; he can hide in them or use them to fight.
Shadow Travel: He can travel through shadows, but long distances really take the energy out of him and sometimes leave him incapacitated for long amounts of time.
Induced Fear: He radiates fear and death, but it's not very powerful. It's sort of like a cologne that's been on for hours; it's faintly there.

Nico's past is an interesting one. He was born before World War II to Hades and Maria di Angelo. He had an older sister, Bianca di Angelo, and was very happy. However, when he was eleven his mother was killed by Zeus who attempted to kill the di Angelo kids, not Maria. Hades was furious and upset by this and hid his children away at the Lotus Casino Hotel. They spent years there, frozen in time. Life passed around them. Time passed and passed and it was the 21st century before they left the hotel.
Nico and Bianca were taken out of the hotel because Hades wanted one of them to be the child of the prophecy, not Percy. Things didn't go according to plan, though.
Percy, Thalia, Grover, and Annabeth found them at a military school and attempted to take them from the school; however, the two children of Hades were kidnapped and the four from Camp Halfblood tried to save them, ending up failing. Instead, the Hunters of Artemis saved the kids, but Annabeth got kidnapped.
Bianca, Nico, and the Hunters of Artemis returned to Camp Halfblood with Percy, Thalia, and Grover. There, Nico was offended to learn that Bianca was joining Artemis' hunters and he felt betrayed. When he found out that Bianca was joining the rescue team for Annabeth, he told Percy to protect her. Percy promised.
Nico stayed at Camp Halfblood while he waited for his sister to come back. The rescue team came back with Annabeth, but no Bianca. Percy told Nico that Bianca died and Nico yelled at Percy, "I hate you!". Shortly after, some skeleton warriors come after Percy and Nico tells them to go away, and they get sucked into the ground. That's when he learns he's a son of Hades and he runs off.
Nico lived on the run for a while, trying to summon Bianca's spirit. However, he kept failing and it was upsetting him. He decided to try and trade a soul for a soul with his father. Later, he meets Percy and the group at the Triple G Ranch where eventually he gets tied up and saved by Percy. After Percy saved him, the son of Poseidon told him to summon Bianca's spirit again, so he did.
Bianca came and told Nico to stop blaming Percy for her death; she was the one he was mad at and he shouldn't hold grudges, because that is the Hades' kids' fatal flaw. Nico forgave Percy (although not in so many words) and moved on. The group sans Nico ended up going back into the Labyrinth and Minos, a ghost Nico had been working with, convinced Nico to go in after them to save Percy. However, Nico got kidnapped by Kronos' minions. He managed to escape and rejoined Percy and the group and they escaped, grouping up with Grover and Tyson and meeting Pan. Pan didn't speak to Nico and that was a little off-putting for the demigod.
He went back to Camp Halfblood but felt incredibly out of place. So he left. He reconnects with Percy a few months later. By this time, Percy is 16 and Nico is 13. Nico had a plan to make Percy invincible -have him bathe in the River Styx. Nico visits Percy and tricks him into going into the Underworld where Hades takes him captive; however Nico sneaks Percy to the river Styx and escapes. Nico stays in the Underworld where he tries to summon his mother's spirit.
Instead of his mother, Bianca shows up and tells him not to summon their mother. Instead of summoning their mother, Nico ends up witnessing the scene of her death. Once he sees this, he knows how to get his father to help during the Battle of Manhattan. During the battle, the two are fighting together, unleashing armies of the undead on the Titans. Later, Nico goes back to Camp Halfblood and helps build a cabin for Hades. He becomes very flighty after that before being summoned by Chiron and asked to go over-see things at Camp Olympus until everything is under control there. And so he has arrived at Camp Olympus.

It wasn't a date. Nico would adamantly refuse to call what he was about to take Brie on a date. It was more of an outing. Definitely not a date. 'Dates' sounded... weird to him. It wasn't a word that accurately described his time with Briony. Outing wasn't an apt word either, but it was much better than date. Ugh. It was no use thinking of such things. It wouldn't make Nico any less nervous and it wouldn't make time move any faster than it already was.
The brunet folded his arms across his chest and he glared off to the side as he waited for Brie. His girlfriend...? No. Maybe. Well, Nico wasn't exactly sure where he and Brie stood in terms of relationships. He just knew that they had something going on. After all, Nico di Angelo didn't teach just anyone the basics of shadow travel. Nico snorted and shook his head. He really needed to stop thinking. It would only stress him out and who knew what would happen then because Nico didn't handle being stressed very well.
"Where is that girl?" Nico asked aloud, his tone tinged with irritation. He was getting antsy; he had plans and he needed those plans to follow through. He might not have been the most reliable demigod but he did like to keep to things when he made plans. And this was something Nico really did want to keep to. He did want to spend time with Briony, so where was that insufferable girl? Although she wasn't really insufferable; Nico used that term loosely and endearingly, the same way a five year old might call his crush stupid. And there he went losing his thoughts again. Comparing himself to a child, please. He was ten years past that stage. And, his mind told him, you're still acting like you're in that stage. Nico decided to ignore himself and instead opted for glaring at the grass in Camp Olympus, taking out his irritation and impatience on the poor defenselss greenery. Brie needed to get there, now.
