Overall: Aphrodite is the personification of beauty, and appears to others as their personal epitome of physical attraction which explains why her true appearance is unknown. She is extraordinarily beautiful, perfectly proportioned, and possesses no physical flaws whatsoever. She will take very good care of how she looks to others and can see the tiniest flaw, even when others cannot see it. By the standards of the Western civilization on Earth, she is the epitome of female beauty and one of the most aesthetically perfect female beings in existence. For some she will appear elegant without trying, fashionable without effort, stunning without makeup, yet for others she could look completely different. Her most used appearance is that of a young girl who looks to be between twenty three and twenty four years old with flowing, wavy locks of blonde hair and stunning blue eyes, standing at about five foot eight inches tall.
SO TELL ME WHAT YOUR BEST FRIEND KNOWS
that i don't know
that i don't know
Personality: Aphrodite is both temperamental and vain; she is irresistable, and her womanly figure demands desires and attractions while her features are soft. In addition, she can also be crafty, flirtatious, and seductive. Despite these qualities, she is both very loving and passionate, having a faith in love that is absolute and true. Aphrodite is very benevolent and gentle to those she favors, and she deeply cares for her children as well as their fathers. Presiding over the most powerful of human feelings, she has great insight into mortal emotions as well as mortal nature by extension. It is nearly impossible to disagree with her. While Aphrodite fell in love with and married the god Hephaestus, she is also in love with a few other gods such as Hermes, Poseidon, and Dionysus though she is mostly seen around with Ares - the god of War. Aphrodite can also be a very jealous and sometimes spiteful goddess. She will cast spells over beautiful women so that people will not praise them on their beauty, and if a human thinks or says that they are more beautiful than her, she has been known to cast a spell on them as well.
Family: Aphrodite has no parents, as she was born from the sea foam resulting from the castration of Ouranos by Cronos. Her only siblings are the Erinyes (furies) who resulted from the sea foam as well. She has many children residing in the Aphrodite cabin, Silena Beauregard and Drew Tanaka to name a few. She also has seven children with Ares - Eros, Phobos, Deimos, Harmonia, Pothos, Anteros, and Himeros. She has five children with Hermes - Hermaphroditos, Rhode, Peitho, Tyche, and Eunomia. She has one child, Tyche, with Zeus, one child, Herophile, with Poseidon, and she also has other various children with other mortals, most notably Aeneas.
History: After Kronos dismembered Ouranos, he threw his father's remains into the sea, and from the foam Aphrodite was born. The sea in which she was born is said to be near Paphos, a city at the island of Cyprus in the Mediterranean sea. She later joined the Olympians after Zeus assumed power and quickly became the source of conflict among the gods. Although he was tempted to take her for himself, Zeus eventually married her to Hephaestus. Some stories told how Zeus arranged this in revenge for refusing him while others told that Hephaestus asked his mother Hera to arrange the marriage. By either account, Aphrodite had little say in the marriage arrangement.
Unhappy with the marriage, Aphrodite had an affair with the handsome and passionate Ares even after her husband humiliated her by publicly exposing her relationship. After learning of the affair, he set a trap for the lovers. He told Aphrodite that he was going to be gone for several days. Aphrodite and Ares decided to take advantage of his absence and were in bed together. They did not know that Hephaestus had rigged the bed with a metal net that dropped on them and trapped the two lovers. Not only did Hephaestus find the two together, but the rest of the Olympian gods were also there to see the unfaithful pair. Poseidon had pity on Aphrodite and asked Hephaestus to make up with his wife.
Despite Hephaestus humiliating her though, eventually she came to love him as well as the others that she had fallen in love with; all of the presents that he showers her with might have helped this though. She would also have romances with both mortals and other gods over the centuries. In some myths it is said she goes to the place she rised from every year and dresses in her finest garments.
Aphrodite contributed greatly to the cause of the Trojan War, which lasted ten years and caused the violent downfall of the city of Troy. During the marriage of Thetis and Peleus, Eris in anger for not being invited tossed a Golden Apple into the room, where several goddesses saw it and fought over it. Eventually it came down to three goddesses: Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. They quarreled over who was the fairest of them all, as the apple read "For the Fairest" on it. Zeus, tired of all the arguing sent Hermes to bring the first person he found to judge who is the fairest of the three goddesses. Unfortunately, he found Paris, the Prince of Troy, to judge the three goddesses. Hera offered him control over all Asia and Europe if she was picked, Athena offered battle skills and intelligence, but Aphrodite on the other hand offered him the hand of the most beautiful woman alive. Paris thought nothing of Athena and Hera's offers, so he chose Aphrodite's gift. Aphrodite, in turn, asked her son Eros to cause Helen to fall in love with Paris. He did as his mother asked and the two fell in deeply love, resulting in Paris sneaking her back to the city of Troy with him. The problem with this was that Helen was already married to King Meneleus of Sparta, and when he learned of what happened he went to his brother Agammemnon. The two started a campaign against Troy, which resulted in the Trojan War. Aphrodite, of course, supported Troy in the war, and intervened many times on behalf of Paris, and her favorite son, Aeneas, who was also of Trojan royalty.
Aphrodite encountered Percy while outside of the junkyard with Bianca and Grover, though it is obvious that she intends on making his love life far from easy. In fact, she tells him that she will make sure that he will have a 'tragic love life'.
